Despite the relatively small skiable domain, Cyprus holds four ski clubs. All of them are very active and are responsible of organizing competitions throughout the season.
Special Olympics Cyprus is a non profit organization which aims to engage individuals with mental retardation into sports and into the social environment. The organization counts more than 600 registered athletes who compete in several sports such as: track and field, swimming, football, basketball, gymnastics, bowling and of course winter sports (ski, cross-country, floor-hockey). During the last Special Olympics winter games in 2005 which took place in Nagano (Japan), the Special Olympics Cyprus team was awarded seven gold medals, seven silver medals and two bronze medals. Congratulations to our athletes!
